Students from Mrs. Evangelista and Mrs. Hunnings' Second Grade class at Birmingham Falls have formed a partnership with residents from Phoenix  Senior Living Center. Both the school and assisted living care center are located in Milton, Ga. Teachers have written inter-generational lessons that both students and seniors will be participating in. The seniors and second graders had their first encounter in the school's Storybook Forest while seated around the children's "Elf on the Shelf" tree which featured life size elf face ornaments of each child. Next a reading lesson was presented to the seniors and students on identifying character traits of the elf character from the story just read. Lindsay Dungan, program director at Phoenix Senior Living, is collaborating with Mrs. Hunnings and Mrs. Evangelista in designing more academic lessons that both the children and senior citizens will enjoy.
