Cumming, September 24, 2019)– Sawnee Electric Membership Corporation (Sawnee) announced today that on September 19, 2019, its Board of Directors approved a retail rate “reduction” for the remainder of 2019.  On average, each affected account will experience a decrease of approximately $12.37 for every 1,500 kWh of energy used.

The rate reduction will occur in Sawnee’s Rate Schedule “R”, Wholesale Power Cost Adjustment (WPCA) factor, which is a billing component within most retail rate schedule Sawnee uses to generate a member’s electric bill.

The rate action announced today will “reduce” the WPCA factor to $0.00275/kWh for energy billed under this rate during the remainder of 2019, which includes October, November and December.

Generally, this action affects all Sawnee EMC residential accounts and most commercial accounts.  The net effect of this action is to lower the amount each affected member pays for electricity for the rest of the year.

“We are very glad that we can make this change for the rest of 2019” states Michael Goodroe, President and CEO of Sawnee. “The Sawnee Board and staff strive to keep costs and rates as low as possible for our members,” he added.

Remember, the actual reduction for each account during this period will vary and is dependent on the level of usage each month.
