Mount Pisgah Christian School Concert

The Mount Pisgah Christian School’s Upper School Band, Chorus and Orchestra will present their spring concert on Thursday, May 2 at 7 p.m., featuring the world premiere of a new work by Composer and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Bassist Michael Kurth. The composition, “In the Beginning Was the Word,” was commissioned for the group and draws inspiration from the Gospel of John.

Composer Michael Kurth has premiered many works with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Chorus, which this year released a recording on the ASO Media label of his commissioned works entitled, Everything Lasts Forever.

Kurth has been a member of the Atlanta Symphony bass section since 1994. He was named “Best New Composer” by Atlanta Magazine in 2017 and was the recipient of a 2017 AIR Serenbe grant.

The MPCS Fine Arts music programs are led by Chorus Director Audriana Johnson, Orchestra Director Robert Rieve, and Band Director Alec Degnats.
