ROSWELL, GA  – Last week, students at Fulton Academy of Science and Technology (FAST) collected donations for victims of Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas.  FAST student council members helped collect items donated by parents in the morning carpool line. All donations will join a larger shipment of donated disaster relief items from around Atlanta and the state of Georgia.

Over a three-day period, newly elected FAST Student Council members arrived at school early to collect donated items from parents dropping off their children in the morning carpool line.  Donations included over 200 canned goods, fans, cleaning and school supplies, personal hygiene items, and other food products. Donated items were delivered to Caring for Others on Monday and will be part of a larger shipment of disaster relief that will head for the Bahamas on Friday, September 27th.  In total, the students collected 50 boxes of items to be donated.

Stan Beiner, principal of FAST Charter School said, “Our student council took the lead which was a source of pride.  Seeing them taking on this community service project gives us a glimpse of what our next generation is capable of doing.  They get it.”

FAST is the highest-rated middle school in Fulton County Schools with a CCRPI score of 93.7.
