Sometimes you find just the right mix. There’s a pair of very special camps near Brevard - Camp Kahdalea for girls and Chosatonga for boys. “We’re traditional North Carolina summer camps with Christian ideals. We hire great staff who are serious about their faith but we don’t want to be a Bible camp.” says David Trufant, Chosatonga director. “We’re called to take each child, find the great things in her or him and reflect it back to them.” They do this, unplugged, by investing time and heart into each camper while challenging and encouraging. Even with strong in-camp programs, they get out into the woods a lot and offer challenge, fun and adventure with supportive staff. Those who are ready may enjoy even a 10-day backpacking trip or advanced whitewater trips. In the process, the children learn they’re more capable than they ever imagined. “We let them out of the box and we like that.”
Kahdalea and Chosatonga have a graceful mix of NC mountain majesty and staff with a commitment to the kids and faith while having fun and building family community. “It’s greater than we ever dreamed...” See their video at TwoFunCamps.com. It’s inspirational … and so much fun.
