Officials in Forsyth County turned their gaze upward Jan. 12, considering new limits on building heights.

Todd Levent, the Forsyth County commissioner who is currently the subject of a county-led ethics investigation, says he has been targeted for political payback by other commissioners.

The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners formally censured Commissioner Todd Levent Aug. 20 following an independent investigation that showed he bypassed Open Records laws to obtain information from the county and about another commissioner.

Forsyth County will spend additional funds for an external investigation into a Board of Commission member for skirting Open Records protocols to obtain emails and other information from another representative without their knowledge.

Talks to divert $12 million away from the development of Denmark Park have been put on hold.

In a 200-page report obtained by the Herald, investigators suggest inconclusively that Levent could have been acting on behalf of a candidate looking to unseat District 4 County Commissioner Cindy Jones Mills. 

The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners agreed to move forward with a sidewalk project that will run along Brannon Road and a section of Ronald Reagan Boulevard.

Forsyth County has limited access to local parks to daylight hours and closed off facilities where people would be prone to ignore social distancing protocols recommended during the coronavirus threat.
