More than 6,000 diplomas will be handed out this month to the Class of 2019 across the 17 high schools that make up the Fulton County School System.
Special recognition is given to the two highest performing students, who were named valedictorian and salutatorian at each school. (Note: All information provided by the Fulton County School System).
Milton High School
• Valedictorian – Kayleigh Monahan
Kayleigh Monahan will attend the University of Notre Dame in the fall where she plans to major in mathematics. She is the daughter of Elke and Dan Monahan. At Milton, Kayleigh is president of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society), and a member of Tri-M (Music Honor Society) and Beta Club. She is the principal bassist for the Mastery Level Orchestra and the Beethoven Chamber Orchestra, and participated in the All State Orchestra. Kayleigh is a teen aide at the Parish School of Religion, an instructor at Mathnasium and an intern at Elkins Point Middle School for 8th grade math.
• Salutatorian –
Erin Joyce is the daughter of David and Judith Joyce and plans to major in political science, environmental science and Spanish in college. She is the president of Spanish Honor Society and vice president of National English Honor Society. She is an active member of Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society), Beta Club, National Honor Society and Model United Nations. Erin also enjoys volunteering outside of school. She spends much of her time at Ruff Dog Rescue which works to rescue dogs from high-kill shelters. Erin has also spent many summers volunteering at Camp2Community, a summer camp for teenagers with learning disabilities.
