MILTON, Ga. — Police responded to a fight June 23 in Milton at a man’s home where the homeowner had a cut next to his left eye, which he said came from a mop that his friend used against him after they got into an argument.
The victim said he and his friend were working on a car in the home’s garage, when the friend started giving him unsolicited life advice. He told his friend to shut up, which started an altercation. During the fight, the friend allegedly picked up a Swiffer hardwood floor mop and struck the man in the face.
The alleged assailant told police he felt he needed the mop for self-defense, because the other man is much bigger. He also told police that the car owner instigated the fight by punching him and knocking his glasses off his face before he picked up the mop. He said he was called a racial slur after he hit the car owner with the mop and grabbed his glasses to leave.
Based on the conflicting testimonies, police were unable to determine who the aggressor was and referred the men to Fulton County Court if they wish to apply for warrants.
