JOHNS CREEK, Ga. —Two Johns Creek High School lacrosse players have been selected to represent Georgia in a national tournament in Delaware.

Rising senior Mary Janell Tredway and rising junior Ava Trankina will compete at the Maverik National Lacrosse Classic July 15-18.

The Classic is a national tournament that includes more than 2,000 athletes from around the country and over 200 college coaches in attendance. Both local athletes have a strong background in lacrosse and attended last year’s event.

Tredway started playing lacrosse with the Johns Creek Junior Gladiator lacrosse program and has played in high school for the last three years and was selected by her team to be captain for the junior varsity team.

Tredway has also travelled with the Thunderbirds, Fast and Furious and Georgia Outlaws lacrosse club teams, playing year-round with all teams for several years.

Trankina started playing lacrosse in first grade and played with the Johns Creek Junior Gladiators lacrosse program through 8th grade. She has started on the Johns Creek varsity team since her freshman year and has played with the Eagle Stix 2021 Blue Team for five years and will play for the Atlanta Storm 2021 travel team this summer and fall.

Trankina was selected as one of 80 student athletes for the Class of 2021 to participate in the Cascade National Prospect Elite Competition this summer and was named a Maverick National High School Lacrosse All-American.
