JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — Police responded to a report on June 27 that a Johns Creek man had received a text from a man identifying himself as a member of the gang, Mara Salvatrucha, commonly known as MS-13.
The man received threats from the texter that he had been messing with “his girl,” he told police, and that if he did not pay him what he wanted, he would kill a member of the man’s family. The text said in Spanish that he should get in touch with him if he did not want a family member to die. The texts also included multiple pictures of mutilated bodies, according to police.
The man told police he did not know the texter or the number he was messaging him from. He also said he had not been messing around with any women.
He attempted to call the number and told police that someone answered in Spanish and a second person got on the phone, speaking in broken English with a Spanish accent.
Police took pictures of the texts and advised the man to preserve the messages.
