CUMMING, Ga. — A man contacted authorities June 16 to file a theft report at Dollar General on Bethelview Road. The man said he attempted to call Expedia to change a flight and called the first number that came up during his online search. The responding agent asked the man to purchase a Google Play Card in the amount of $416 and provide the code in order to assist in changing his flight. When the victim purchased a card for $460 and provided the code, the agent asked him to buy a new card in the original amount of $416. After purchasing the card and providing the code, the victim was asked to pay an additional $500 to clear a red flag on his address. The victim refused to send any more money and contacted authorities. All total, the victim was scammed out of $876 through the purchases.
