CUMMING - Lyla Katheleen Staudt was the first baby to be born in Forsyth County on Jan. 1, 2011.

She was born at 12:59 a.m. via C-section at Northside Hospital Forsyth in Cumming, said Katherine G. Watson, a hospital spokeswoman.

The 6-pound-15-ounces baby was 19-and-a-half inches long.

Her parents Preston and Katie Staudt of Cumming and their 2-year-old son Liam are expected to home tomorrow.

The hospital gave the family a giant diaper cake to celebrate Lyla's birth.
