ALPHARETTA, Ga. —The manager of the Shell on Hembree Road called police May 2 after he realized he had been scammed by a fake firefighter.

On April 8, the manager received a call from a man who said he was a sergeant with either the Roswell or Alpharetta Fire Department. The man asked if he could get gas to use in his personal car so he could visit his family. The man added that he would return the next day to pay the bill.

The manager agreed and gave him $60 worth of premium gas.

The manager did not confirm if the man was an employee with a local fire department. When he did not receive payment almost over a month later, the manager called police.
