Alpharetta High School orchestras wrap up season

The Alpharetta High School orchestras have finished the 2017-2018 season. 

ALPHARETTA, Ga. — The Alpharetta High School orchestras performed May 1 to a full house at their Spring “Pops” Concert.

The Concert Orchestra played Henry Mancini’s “Pink Panther” and “Can’t Stop the Feeling” by Justin Timberlake.

The Philharmonia Orchestra played Jon Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ On A Prayer” and “Motown Forever,” arranged by Larry Moore.

The Sinfonia Orchestra played music from “La La Land” by Justin Hurwitz and “The Idylls of Pegasus” by composer Richard Meyer.

The Alpharetta Symphony Orchestra featuring the senior class took the spotlight with Edouard Lalo’s “Symphonie Espagnole,” “Op. 21” (violin by Ryan Baker), “I Dreamed a Dream” by Claude-Michael Schonberg from “Les Miserables” and Koussevitsky’s “Concerto for Double Bass, Op. 3.”

Completing the Symphony Orchestra performance were selected pieces from Leonard Bernstein’s “West Side Story,” which included the wind, brass and percussion.

The orchestras are directed by Dr. Charles Laux.
