ROSWELL, Ga. — Soggy Sandals Rum Island Guava-Jalapeno-Pineapple Marinade recently won first place for best in barbecue in a national competition.

Local Roswell resident Neal Pringle’s story of growing up in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands and his love of barbecue helped inspire his rum-based, all natural marinade-sauce business. Currently there are three barbecue Marinades-Sauces. They are sold locally at Roswell Hardware, The Cook’s Warehouse locations and The Butcher’s Market, as well as online.
The National Barbecue and Grilling Association’s annual Awards of Excellence competition recognizes the best barbecue products in a number of industry categories, including sauces, dry rubs, marinades and accessories. The awards were recently announced at the 2017 NBBQA annual conference in Fort Worth, Texas.
All of the Soggy Sandals sauces have won Top 5 Awards of Excellence in recent years’ competitions.
