JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — Two Johns Creek junior golfers took two of the top three spots in the Chattahoochee Classic Junior Golf Championship played on the challenging Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville on Saturday and Sunday Aug. 12 and 13.
The two day event saw 14 year old Erica Scutt, a freshman at Northview High School, overcome a two-shot deficit going into the final round with a Sunday score of 75 to capture first place by four strokes for a two-day total of 155.
Second place went to McKenzie Mages of Marietta in a play-off with Kate Song of Johns Creek who finished third. Both girls ended regulation play with a total of 159.
The event, sponsored by the Georgia State Golf Association, drew a field of 18 of some of the most accomplished junior players from around the state.
The champion, Scutt, plays out of Olde Atlanta Golf Club in Forsyth County where she is coached by professional Dave Anderson.
