MILTON, Ga. — Milton and Cambridge student athletes were honored at the Dec. 18 City Council meeting for their recent successes in state championship competition.
The Milton coed cheer team was recognized for winning the 7A coed cheer state championship Nov. 10. It was the first state championship for the program.
Each of the 18-member team, as well as coaches Melissa and Alex Marsh, received a proclamation honoring their achievement.
The city also declared Dec. 18 as Milton and Cambridge Cross-Country Appreciation Day for the teams’ successes at the state championship meet in November.
The Cambridge boys and girls team swept the Class 6A state title, the first championship for each program.
The Milton boys won their first state title in Class 7A while the girls team matched their best state championship meet performance with a third-place finish.
