Civil War historian and author, Michael Shaffer, will present his topic, “The Gray Ghost: Colonel John S. Mosby.” During the American Civil War, perhaps no other soldier approached the actions of Colonel John Singleton Mosby. This daring partisan ranger led his small body of troops on several raids, capturing Federal troops, destroying supplies, and drawing the attention of Northern soldiers needed elsewhere. Historian Michael K. Shaffer will explore the life and exploits of the leader of the 43rd Battalion Virginia Cavalry.
The doors open at 6:30 p.m. Mr. Shaffer will begin speaking at 7:00 p.m. Complimentary light refreshments will be available. Suggested donation is $5.00. Call 770-640-3855 to reserve your seat at the lecture.
