CUMMING, Ga. — A woman went into the Bank of the Ozarks and tried to cash a fake check for $8,700, according to a Forsyth County Sheriff’s incident report.
At about 9:40 a.m. on May 29, an employee of the Ozarks Bank, 2675 Freedom Parkway, told deputies a woman came in and asked to cash the check from Piedmont Grading Company.
The employee said she called the company to verify the check’s authenticity due to its large amount.
While she waited to hear back for the company’s bookkeeper, she said the woman had three phone calls. The employee said the woman only said yes or no answers and told her the calls were from her child’s daycare.
Finally the woman left and took the check with her. Shortly after, the company called back and said the check a fake.
