West Forsyth’s ‘Gold Rush’ wins state competition



CUMMING, Ga. — The West Forsyth High School Gold Rush dance team competed in the Georgia High School Association state championship at Clayton State University on Nov. 17.

The team brought home four titles, including first place in pom category, second place in jazz category, best technique overall and second place overall.

The team is made up of 16 members and is coached by Asheley Bell, teacher at West Forsyth.

In addition to local competitions, the Gold Rush team performs at home varsity basketball games and events throughout the community.

“I am very proud of our performances. It feels great knowing our hard work paid off,” said dance captain Maci Royal.
