CUMMING, Ga. — David Allen of Wells Fargo has been recognized by the bank leaders for his contributions to the community, specifically for his volunteer service to Cumming Home Ministries.
Along with receiving a volunteer service award from the bank, Allen also won $1,000 for the nonprofit, which provides transitional housing for homeless men across Forsyth County.
Allen serves on the board of directors and has been volunteering with Cumming Home Ministries since it began in 2011.
His service includes working with the residents, building the homes and operating the organization’s thrift store, the proceeds from which go directly to help fund the organization.
The $1,000 contribution allowed the nonprofit to sign a lease on a new, larger building in a prime location on Canton Highway.
Cumming Home Ministries is nearly 100 percent volunteer operated and runs two homes that house a dozen men, with a third home under construction.
