Wakoola Gardens to host breast cancer fundraiser BBQ

CUMMING, Ga. — Wakoola Gardens will be hosting breast cancer fundraiser BBQ event on Saturday, Oct. 5 .

At this event we will be smoking “Butts for Breasts” on our big smoker. The event is open to the public and will be located at Wakoola Gardens, 5235 Union Hill Road, Cumming.

All proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and will be donated to The 3Day Walk in Atlanta.

Beginning at 3 p.m. the public is invited to dress in pink clothing and costumes, and enjoy live music and participate in a raffle to win a large urn fountain to be installed in the winner’s yard. The BBQ will begin at 4 p.m. and go until 7 p.m. or until they run out.

Eat in the gardens and enjoy live music from local musicians.

There will be activities for children such as painting pink pumpkins and portraits in the pumpkin patch.

In addition to Wakoola’s regular garden center items, pink plants, pink gardening items, and pink gifts will be available for sale and a portion of each pink sale will be donated to the foundation.

“We chose to get involved in this campaign because breast cancer is a cause that is close to many of our customers. Approximately one in eight women run the risk of developing breast cancer at some point in her life, so we all know someone who has been affected by this disease. Hosting this event is a great opportunity to have fun and raise money for a good cause,” said Janet Allgood, owner of Wakoola Gardens.

Tickets for the BBQ are on sale now and the price is $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for kids under 10. Raffle tickets for the urn fountain are $5 each and 3 for $10.

Laguna Pond Products has sponsored the food and Wakoola Gardens donated the fountain so 100 percent of the proceeds for the BBQ and raffle will go to the charity.
