Vote for special ed teacher of year

All residents encouraged to take part

ROSWELL, Ga. — The nonprofit organization enAble of Georgia, Inc. supports people with special needs to lead fulfilled lives.

Founded in 1979 by a small group of concerned parents seeking a place in their community that could provide a nurturing home and quality support services for their children with special needs who had graduated from high school, enAble knows firsthand the impact teachers have on the lives of individuals with special needs and that the educators’ value is beyond measure.

The next winner will be honored at enAble of Georgia Foundation’s 25th annual “Dare to Dream” Gala on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel and Convention Center.

The winning teacher will receive a $500 gift card for school supplies and a $500 gift card for personal use.

Nominations are sought for special education teachers who teach in Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry and Rockdale County schools who share enAble’s focus and commitment to supporting individuals with special needs to reach their full potential. Any resident of the 10 metro counties may submit a nomination of a qualified special education teacher within those counties. Qualified nominees must be a full-time certified or licensed special education teacher with at least three years of classroom experience.

Applicants will be judged in three important areas:

  1. Classroom excellence
  2. Student/family engagement
  3. Community involvement

On the application form, please provide clear examples of how the nominee exhibits excellence in each of these areas. If more space is needed, attachments supporting the nomination will be accepted.
