CUMMING, Ga. — A seller received two cashier’s checks totaling $2,900 from a “buyer” for items that were being sold for $200, according to a Forsyth County Sheriff’s incident report.
A man in the 6000 block of Julian Road told deputies his son posted an amplifier and a kayak for sale on Craigslist.org Oct. 7.
The items were being sold for $100 each.
A “buyer” texted the son and said he wanted to buy both of the items.
He mailed the son a postal money order for $945 and a cashier’s check for $1,955.
He said the checks were made out for too much and asked the son to send the difference along with the two items posted online.
The son called Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and reported the fraud.
