CUMMING, Ga. — A car caught fire and evidence has melted away, according to a Forsyth County Sheriff’s incident report.
At about 3:30 a.m. on May 29, fire department officials, deputies and arson investigators were dispatched to 9420 Browns Bridge Road to extinguish a car fire.
Deputies said the car’s engine bay was still intact, but the inside was destroyed. They also found the car’s gas cap on the ground about three feet away, which indicates that it had been tampered with.
Deputies said the VIN number melted away and there was no tag on the car.
Arson investigators told deputies they would attempt to find a VIN number for the car once it arrived at the wrecker yard for further investigation.
