UPDATE: Usher’s stepson in critical condition after hit by Jet Ski on Lake Lanier

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — The 11-year-old stepson of pop singer Usher Raymond, of Johns Creek, was in critical condition late Monday, July 9.

Kile Glover was on an inner tube when he was struck by a jet ski. Several news outlets have reported the boy is brain dead, but hospital officials have declined to say due to privacy concerns.

Glover was at Lake Lanier Friday, July 6 when a Jet Ski ran over him and a 15-year-old girl while they rode in an inner tube.

Both children were knocked unconscious.

Glover, whose mother is Usher’s ex-wife, Tameka Foster, and the girl were flown to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.

The girl was in stable condition with several deep cuts to her head and a broken arm, according to reporter Katie Brace of CBS 5 Atlanta.

However, Sunday night, gossip website TMZ reported that Glover was brain dead.

Georgia Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Resources Division officials say the group had rented two Jet Skis and a pontoon boat. They also said the driver of the Jet Ski -- 38-year-old Jeffrey S. Hubbard was a friend of the family.

Thus far, officials have said alcohol was not a factor.

Robin Hill, a spokeswoman for DNR, told new outlets they will recreate the accident with computer programs to determine details of the incident.

Several Hollywood celebrities have tweeted about the tragedy, offering Usher and his family their support and prayers.

Singer Fantasia tweeted, "Everyone please pray for Usher and Tameka's son. This is the time they really need your prayers."

In addition, Donny Osmond tweeted, “My prayers go out to Usher…and his family. His stepson was declared brain dead after a jet-ski accident. Please pray for them.”

Usher has not yet publicly commented on the accident.
