ALPHARETTA, Ga. - Police have confirmed the remains of a man have been found on Alpharetta's greenway trail system south of Kimball Bridge Road, an apparent suicide victim.
Alpharetta Public Safety Spokesman George Gordon said the remains were found in the woods about 100 yards from the path, south of Kimball Bridge Road.
Two teens were playing in the woods and came across the body. It was hidden from sight of the path. Gordon said the boys ran to tell their mother who went to a nearby fire station for help.
The body was decomposed, Gordon said, and was in the woods for at least a week.
Detectives have concluded the cause of death was suicide. Identification of the victim will be determined by the Fulton County Medical examiner’s office.
“The autopsy by the medical examiner didn’t reveal anything that contradicted our findings or otherwise pointed towards a homicide,” said Gordon.
