Titans coast to win over Towers; Play this week on TV

AVONDALE, Ga. – Blessed Trinity remained tied for first place in Region 6-AAA, rolling past winless Towers 59-12 last Friday night at Avondale Stadium.

The Titans, 3-0 in the region and 6-1 overall, are tied with St. Pius at the top of the region standings. The two teams play next Friday at St. Pius, with the winner likely taking home the region title.

Timmy Mertz rushed for 100 yards and scored a touchdown for the Titans, with Milton Shelton adding 71 yards and two TDs. Ryan Mediate keyed the BT defense with a pair of interceptions.

The Titans play on Thursday this week against McNair, with the game televised on WSB TV’s digital channel. The game kicks off at 7 p.m., with the broadcast beginning on a slight tape delay at 7:30 p.m. The game will be re-broadcast on WSB the following night at 1 a.m.

McNair is 3-4 overall and 0-3 in 6-AAA, losing to the region’s three expected playoff qualifiers other than BT by a combined 123-7.
