Surge of Forsyth park break-ins

CUMMING, Ga. — Someone has been breaking into parked cars at local parks and stealing purses, according to a Forsyth County Sheriff’s incident report.

Between 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. Nov. 9, deputies were dispatched to Sharon Park, 1950 Sharon Road, and Fowler Park, 4110 Carolene Way, because people found their rear windows broken and items taken.

A woman told deputies she parked her 2012 Toyota Sienna at the park at about 1:45 p.m. and returned at about 3 p.m. She found her window smashed and her $800 designer purse missing.

She said she called her bank to report her stolen credit cards.

Bank of America said her credit card had been charged at a Target in Suwanee for more than $400. Her Discover card had been charged for gas, and swiped but declined twice at the same Target.

Another woman told deputies she parked her 2006 Honda Accord by the Fowler Park recreation center at about 2:30 p.m. She returned at about 3:30 p.m. and found her window smashed and $25 purse missing.

Deputies said they were dispatched to Sharon Park because three people reported the same type of car break in.
