MILTON, Ga. – Summit Hill Elementary School recently named its Teacher of the Year and Support/Professional of the Year award winners.
Support/Professional of the Year nominees included Tracy Artis, Darci Costanzo, Melissa Loomis, Patty Mantas-Lico, Bonnie Taylor and Kimberly Thompson. After the Summit Hill staff voted, Thompson, the school’s clinic aide, won the honor. Thompson has been the clinic aide at Summit Hill since early in the school’s opening year.
Nominees from amongst the staff for Teacher of the Year were Kim Hanger, Dawn Kesler, Christine Terrell, Shelley Tomich and Judi Wangenheim. The five finalists were all observed teaching a lesson and later interviewed by a panel of their peers that included former Teachers of the Year. In the end, Terrell was named the winner of Summit Hill’s Teacher of the Year. She has taught at Summit Hill for more than 10 years and is the school’s fourth-grade department chair.
