FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — The Suds 4 Soldiers car wash held Sept. 15 on the corner of McGinnis Ferry Road and Peachtree Parkway (Ga. 141) was a success, organizers said.

About 25 Riverwatch Middle School seventh-graders scrubbed dozens of cars to raise $2,200 for veteran scholarships to buy food and diapers for local veteran families in need.

The event was headed by Maggie Walker, a junior executive board member and secretary for Change 4 Georgia, and Remington Youngblood.

The students also held a bake sale in conjunction with the car wash to help raise funds for soldiers.

Last month, the students raised $1,500 at the Make Waves Project Pool party, an event chaired by Change 4 Georgia Vice President Grace Ann Carlson.

Upcoming fundraisers are Magnificent Movie Night on Nov. 1 and a Fabulous Fashion Show for the holidays, which will raise money for food and toys for veteran families.
