MILTON, Ga. – The Starbursts girls’ softball team won its championship game Nov. 5 against the Blue Angles with a score of 14-11, capping off a fun season for all of the girls. The Starbursts led the entire game, thanks to their consistently strong offense and solid defense. Every player had at least one hit, and the team’s great clutch hitting resulted in seven out of the 14 runs coming after two outs. The Blue Angels were strong competitors and rallied with five runs in the last inning to make the game a season-ending “nail biter.”
The Starbursts are Addison, Emily, Jackie, Jessica, Julia, Libby, MacKenzie, Missy and Sara. The team thanked head coaches Shep and Kelli Tapasek, pitcher Jon Marks, assistant coaches Brad Comer, Will Driver and Jeff Burleson and coach Calvin Brown, who lent his expertise to the team, even though he didn’t have a child on the team.
