FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Jake Drehoff, a 2010 South Forsyth High School graduate, was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 12th round in this month’s Major League Baseball amateur draft.

The 6-foot 4-inch left-handed pitcher played at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Miss., where he posted an 11-7 record with 30 consecutive starts, 126 strikeouts in 176 IP and a 3.52 ERA.

“I’m very excited for the opportunity,” Drehoff said. “It’s an awesome feeling getting drafted.”

Drehoff now begins his professional career with the Red Sox’s Gulf Coast Rookie League in Fort Myers, Fla..
