Seven students awarded $1K scholarships

Daniel Hager Memorial scholarship fund awards six Forsyth and one North Fulton County students

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Committee members of the Daniel Hager Memorial Scholarship Fund have announced the results of their 2012 scholarship program.

Awards were presented to seven students attending Forsyth County and North Fulton schools.

Each student received a $1,000 scholarship to the Georgia Institute of Technology.

The scholarships were awarded to Jared Klienwaechter of Lambert High, Neha Saxena of Lambert High, Anna Finch of North Forsyth High, Madison Rodenstine of North Forsyth High, Tyler McGee of South Forsyth High, Hannah Coonley of South Forsyth High and Cody Blackwell of Creekview High.

All of the recipients will attend Georgia Tech.

Klienwaechter, the son of Gerilyn and Joseph Klienwaechter, graduated Lambert High with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 4.0. He volunteered at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church, and his school activities included football, track and field, National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Mu Alpha Theta.

Saxena, daughter of Seema and Rajiv Saxena, graduated Lambert with a cumulative GPA of 4.0. She volunteered at Ocee Library, and her school activities included DECA, National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta.

Finch, daughter of Leah and William Finch, graduated North Forsyth High with a cumulative GPA of 4.0. She volunteered as a group leader and Bible story teller at Browns Bridge Community Church, and her school activities included International Thespian Society, National Honor Society, Beta Club and Mu Alpha Theta.

Rodenstine, daughter of Angela Heitzer and Todd Rodenstine, graduated North Forsyth with a cumulative GPA of 4.19. She volunteered with Special Olympics and Hands on Forsyth, and her school activities included cheerleading, tennis, Beta Club, National Spanish Honor Society, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, math team and DECA.

McGee, son of Melanie and Brian McGee, graduated South Forsyth High with a cumulative GPA of 4.18. His school activities included National Honor Society, National Beta Club, National Spanish Honor Society, tennis team, Scholar Athlete and team captain.

Hannah Coonley, daughter of Rhonda and Greg Coonley, graduated South Forsyth with a cumulative GPA of 3.85. She volunteered at Forsyth Animal Shelter, and her school activities included ballet, Link Leaders and National Honor Society.

Cody Blackwell, son of Terri and Clark Blackwell, graduated Creekview High with a cumulative GPA of 3.89. He volunteered at Boy Scouts of America, and his school activities included Creekview Aeronautics Club, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and Future Business Leaders of America.

The funds were raised through the annual Daniel Hager Memorial Celebrity Golf Tournament held last October at the Polo Golf and Country Club. The event chair was Bobby Cox, and the tournament included hundreds of volunteers, sponsors, players and celebrities.

This year’s golf tournament will take place at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 16 at the St. Ives Country Club in Johns Creek.
