Sawnee Electric Membership Corporation announces additional rate decrease

CUMMING, Ga. — Sawnee Electric Membership Corporation announced that their board of directors has approved a reduction in the wholesale power cost adjustment factor, a component by which most of the cooperative’s electric bills are calculated.

“This is once again very good news and we are pleased to be able to deliver a second rate reduction in the last two months,” said Blake House, vice president of member services. “We know that many families continue to experience challenges and we are proud to be able to help in any way we can… especially during the upcoming holidays.”

The rate change, which goes into effect on Oct. 31, will further reduce monthly Sawnee EMC bills by $7.50 for every 1,500 kilowatt-hour(kWh) used.

This action will lower the electricity rate for about 136,000 Sawnee EMC members on the energy bills processed in November and December.

It is estimated that this rate reduction will save Sawnee members more than $1.9 million in lower energy bills during this two-month period.
