Safe boating course takes place April 13 in Flowery Branch, Ga



FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – Flotilla 29 of the U.S. Coast Guard auxiliary, Lake Lanier, has announced a one-day seven-lesson ”about boating safely” course scheduled for Saturday, April 13.

This course also serves as a PWC certified course for children under the age of 16.

It will be given at the coast guard auxiliary operations center, 6595 Lights Ferry Road, Flowery Branch, Ga., on the left just before the entrance to Aqualand Marina.

Classes run from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., and cost is $40.

Discounts are available for additional family members.

Course contents include: know your boat; before you get underway; navigating the waterways; operating your vessel safely; legal requirements of boating; what to do in boating emergencies; enjoying water sports with your boat and Georgia regulations.

Successful completion of this course may result in a reduction in your boat’s insurance premium.

The Corps of Engineers at Lakes Lanier and Allatoona are offering a free one year pass to the day parks for anyone who can show evidence of successfully completing a 2013 approved safe boating course.
