CUMMING, Ga. — Halloween is around the corner as teen zombies take over Sharon Forks Library. The Forsyth County Public Library hosted “Zombiethon” at the Sharon Forks Library Branch, 2820 Old Atlanta Road in Cumming on Oct. 19. Zombiethon was an event open to sixth graders and up as part of this week’s national Teen Read Week.

Zombiethon allowed teens to apply zombie makeup, participate in a photo booth, make slime and learn the dance to “Thriller.”

“Seeing teens here at the library is great,” said Cleo Slaughter, event planner of Zombiethon. “We’ve been trying to offer more teen programs over the last year and get teens excited about the programs we offer rather than just checking out books at the library.”

“Seeing them respond to the program so positively is great,” Slaughter said. “We love to see teens excited and want to come to the library.”

There are more events at the library for families to enjoy. Berry Stewart Mann will be telling stories about Spanish traditions at 7 p.m. Oct. 30 for “Dia de los Muertos” or Day of the Dead.
