CUMMING, Ga. — Area residents might have seen the South Forsyth Middle School cheerleaders in the Three Chimneys, Bridle Ridge and Northern Oaks neighborhoods. The girls held a food drive, going door to door, and collected about $2,300 worth of food items.
The food donations consisted mostly of canned goods and pastas and were given to The Place of Forsyth County.
Ashley Deckard, food programs coordinator for The Place, said the girls collected enough food to feed 42 small families for a week.
The cheerleaders told the Forsyth Herald they would like to thank the residents of the neighborhoods for their generosity. The organizers say they loved participating in something that helped their community and plan to do more community service this season.
