Rucker Fest all-dog event comes to Roswell

ROSWELL, Ga. – Roswell went to the dogs Oct. 21 as the Roswell Historical Society sponsored the first annual Rucker Fest on the Roswell Square.

Rucker Fest was an all-dog event to highlight the society’s new mascot, Rucker, the fictional dog in their new children’s book, “Rucker: The Lost Country Dog,” which tells the story of Rucker’s journey through Roswell.

The festival featured dog contests in which dogs participated in the following events: Rucker look-alike, dog costume, obedience, pet-owner look-alike and pet photo. Prizes donated by local pet businesses were awarded for each of the categories.

Nonprofit agencies were in attendance to share information about their organizations. Canine Assistants and Happy Tails had booths. The Alpharetta K-9 unit provided a crowd-pleasing demonstration.

Angels Among Us Pet Rescue and the Atlanta Humane Society brought pets for adoption.

Pet vendors, food trucks and face painting (so that everyone could look like Rucker) rounded out the festivities.

All proceeds from Rucker Fest will benefit the Roswell Historical Society.
