ALPHARETTA, Ga. — For 16 years, the Rotary Club of Alpharetta and the city of Alpharetta have hosted the Alpharetta Mayor’s Challenge Race.

On Friday night, July 20, they will partner again to hold the first evening 5K race, complete with a fun run, block party and movie night.

To complement the new theme, the event has moved to the Historic Downtown streets across from Alpharetta City Hall at 2 South Main Street.

The race check-in begins at 6:30 p.m. on Milton Avenue, along with the party, food, libations and sponsor booths.

The fun run sponsored by Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta will begin at 7 p.m. with the 5K race beginning at 7:45 p.m.

Event attendees are asked to pack lawn chairs because the free, family-friendly PG-13 movie will begin on a large inflatable screen at 9 p.m.

Registration is $30 and can be done in person at Big Peach Running Co. or online at www.active.com.

All participants receive a technical T-shirt, and awards will be given to male and female winners in the 10 year age brackets and to the top overall male/female.

The event raises funds for North Fulton nonprofits.
