Roswell PD granted CALEA certification

ROSWELL, Ga. – The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) voted unanimously Nov. 17 for the continuation of the Roswell Police Department’s Advanced Accreditation status.

CALEA is an international nonprofit organization and the only one setting national standards for law enforcement agencies in North America and the Caribbean. This is the sixth CALEA accreditation award for the Roswell Police Department, which was first accredited in 1995 and has never lost its international accreditation status.

Interim Chief Rusty Grant and Accreditation Manager Joel Montezinos responded to questions from commissioners during the commission review process and were complimented on how well the department actively addresses the high standards established by the commission. The review chair particularly commented on the rigorous field training process that individuals must complete in order to work the streets in the city of Roswell.

Montezinos, who also conducts accreditation assessments for CALEA, said that it is nice to take a moment and appreciate how hard the personnel of the police department worked to achieve this goal. “Accreditation is a constant process of evaluation and reevaluation of how well we do our jobs,” he said. “We will continue to meet and exceed the standards set by CALEA for law enforcement agencies.”
