ROSWELL, Ga. — The 2012 Level 3 and 6 State Gymnastics Meet was held Nov. 10-11 at Lanier High School and Roswell Gymnastics placed first in the event. Having had a strong season, Roswell was poised for a successful meet.

On Saturday, all qualifying Level 6 gymnasts in Georgia competed in the individual competition. Roswell boasted 18 state champions on the following events:

Vault: Megan Cater, Kendall Cuen, Natalie Force, Emma Pettit, Lauren Rutherford.

Bars: Jessica Archer, Abby Cummins, Natalie Force, Chandler Furman, Emma Pettit, Lauren Rutherford.

Beam: Allie Cash, Zoe Merchant, Abby Cummins.

Floor: Abby Camarda, Zoe Merchant.

All Around: Zoe Merchant, Emma Pettit.

Roswell placed first in the preliminary team finals. The top eight teams from Saturday’s meet progressed to the final team competition on Sunday. Roswell started on bars and posted the highest team score of the meet. Beam and floor followed. The girls delivered a strong performance. Vault was the last event and the coaches felt confident the girls would achieve high scores. Roswell girls once again posted the highest team score for that event.

“It is always a special moment when our program demonstrates success while embracing the values of positive coaching and without overtraining our athletes. I am very proud of our accomplishments in contributing to the girls’ success, both in and out of the gym,” said Cindy Furman, program and facility coordinator.
