JOHNS CREEK, Ga. – The best way to fight cancer is to celebrate life. The next best way to beat cancer is to raise the money for the research that will conquer it. Relay for Life combines both, raising millions and celebrating the survivors of cancer.
At the April 26 Johns Creek Relay for Life, hundreds of families, students and volunteers came together at Taylor Road Middle School – mercifully indoors in the gym due to the rain and cold – for food, games and a good time walking for the cure.
Randy Redner, American Cancer Society vice president for Georgia, said he expected to raise $1.5 million that night in events across the state.
“Georgia will raise $160 million for cancer research this year,” Redner said.
