Portland woman was arrested at Best Buy for credit card fraud

ALPHARETTA, Ga. – A Portland woman was arrested Oct. 19 after allegedly using a fake ID and credit card to try and buy more than $1,600 in gift cards from Best Buy.

Jennie Wertman, 41, of Portland, Ore., allegedly tried to use a California license belonging to a 61-year-old woman to buy gift cards from the store. Employees suspected the license and credit card Wertman was using were fake. Police arrived and checked the license, which was indeed false. A check with the credit card company confirmed the card was fake.

Wertman was arrested for forgery, credit card fraud and giving false information to police.
