CUMMING, Ga. — Pinecrest Academy has named a high school Spanish teacher as its Outstanding Teacher of the Year.
Tita Garcia, a 14-year veteran of Pinecrest Academy with 25 years of service in Catholic education, was selected as Outstanding Teacher of the Year 2012.
This annual award, administered by the Archdiocese of Atlanta, recognizes those who have distinguished themselves in the lives of the students they serve through their ministry as Catholic educators, said Vivian Heard, a spokeswoman for Pinecrest.
Garcia has served as a teacher in grades spanning from kindergarten through 12th grade.
She teaches Spanish and is the foreign language department chair in the high school.
Garcia will be formally recognized at the 2012-2013 Archbishop’s Education Banquet on Feb. 4.
