Phony nurse uses hospital for identity theft in Cumming

CUMMING, Ga. — A disabled woman had her tax information stolen by a woman posing as a nurse at the hospital, according to a Cumming Police incident report.

A woman told officers she had gone to Northside Forsyth Hospital sometime in early March.

Afterward, she got a phone call from a “nurse” who asked for her social security number for a form about her stay.

The woman gave the “nurse” the information, and then the call got disconnected.

The victim got suspicious and called the hospital a few days later. Hospital personnel told her they would never call and ask for such information.

The woman said she got a letter from the Social Security Administration reporting self-employment earnings for the 2013-14 year. The woman’s only source of income comes from disability because she is on oxygen and cannot work, she told officers.
