Northview student named library volunteer of the year

Arah Kang honored for years of volunteerism

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. – Lianna Arah Kang, a junior at Northview High School, has received the Youth Volunteer of the Year Award from the Atlanta Fulton Public Library System.

Margaret Roach, who is a volunteer services manager at Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System, said this special award is given to an outstanding young AFPLS volunteer.

Arah Kang was selected from among all of the young volunteers throughout the 33 branch library system. This award was presented at the Library Volunteer Recognition Program at the Central Library Auditorium.

She also received the President’s Volunteer Service Award for Young Adults for serving over 100 volunteer hours.

The CAST (Community and Student Together) Tutoring Program took action on Aug. 29, 2010 in the Ocee Library. Tutoring sessions are from 2-4 p.m. every Sunday, and this is her third year volunteering.

Current CAST volunteers from Northview High school are Kavitha Srinimukesh, Rickie Jang, and Lianna Arah Kang.
