N.Y. couple charged with using fake credit cards

Chased down by Alpharetta cops for forgery

ALPHARETTA, Ga. – A New York couple were arrested for forgery after a chase through North Point Mall July 31.

Store employees said the suspects, Andre T. Elwin, 25, and Jevauni Johnson, 26, both of Brooklyn, N.Y., came in to the Apple Store in the mall and attempted to buy a 27-inch computer. They allegedly tried to pay with several credit cards. When employees tried processing the last card, it would not work.

Instead the card returned information for a different bank and number than the card, alerting employees. The suspects fled and store employees followed, calling on police to help.

Elwin was caught outside and was found to have 18 fake credit cards on him as well as $900 in cash and seven Visa gift cards.

All the cards were in the names of the suspects. Johnson was found nearby. Both were charged with forgery. Elwin was found to have an active warrant out of New York for robbery.
