CANTON, Ga. – For the third time in four games, the Centennial Knights were unable to preserve a lead, losing 28-24 last Friday night, Oct. 25, at North Forsyth when the Raiders scored the winning touchdown with less than 2:30 to play.
The Knights (1-4 in Region 6-AAAAA, 1-7 overall) were driving for a clinching touchdown in the final period, but fumbled inside the Raiders’ 25. North Forsyth (2-3, 5-3) hit a 53-yard pass on the next play and went on to score the winning touchdown.
Centennial quarterback Tee Holland completed 22 of 33 passes for 300 yards and three touchdowns, with his lone interception coming in the final seconds near the North Forsyth goal line. The two late turnovers were the only ones for the Knights, who have been plagued by turnovers in their recent losses.
Caden Herring caught eight passes from Holland for 128 yards, including a 92-yarder a touchdown. Christian Robinson had eight receptions for 118 yards and two TDs, one going for 62 yards.
The Knights led 7-0 after one quarter, 10-6 at the half and 17-14 after three periods. Centennial is at home Friday against region leader Alpharetta, and closes out its season next week at Chattahoochee.
