JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — Nineteen-year old singer and songwriter, Bess, of Johns Creek, has a promising career ahead of her in the music industry.

Bess, whose real name is Sarah Elizabeth Beckmann, recently won a global songwriting contest for one of her new songs, “The People, The Places” off her upcoming EP “The Real Thing.”

Songwriter Universe chose her song as the top song for July 2012.

Bess was also recently named on the list of “Twenty to Watch in 2012” by the Los Angeles Examiner and was asked to write and submit a song for the new Twilight movie soundtrack “Breaking Dawn, Part 2.”

Bess taught herself guitar at the age of 12 and recorded her first song at age 13. She wrote and recorded her first EP at age 15 under the direction of Tommy Byrnes (Billy Joel’s music director and guitarist) at NRG Studios in California.

Over the past few years, she has played various shows and showcases on the West and East coasts including an invitation to play SXSW two years ago.

Bess’ EP is set to be released this fall and she will be on a national tour to promote her album.
